A Noteworthy Week

I have been slowly noticing things this past week and I find out that I'm not the only one. The house I live in has my entire family living in it as well. I moved in to the basement apartment to help my folks pay their mortgage and to help me after I lost my ass in a divorce, and my older Brother lives here as well. So, when our schedules allow us to cross paths we'll talk about something strange that has happened or we'll ask each other; "Were you banging on the floor at 3 in the morning last night"? or "Did you turn the coffee pot on"? Well lately, we've had much to share with each other.
I can start by describing some very unusual ever-present sounds that come from my basement bathroom ceiling. I started taking the digital recorder in the bathroom with me and I actually caught some pretty amazing interactions. I may have already posted this event but I started noticing an increase in activity once this happened, so I think it's relevant to this topic.
About a day later, I had an early day off from work and I heard my Brother shouting while he was showering in the upstairs bathroom. He was shouting out into the hallway for someone to cut off the water because he was being frozen and scalded. I don't need to explain that in some houses when a person cuts the water on in the kitchen, it will affect the water temperature in other parts of the house, right? Well, no one was using any water. The only water being use in the house at that time was the shower and once he realized that shower faucet mixer handle was actually turned to the cold side, I heard him react differently. He told me that he set the shower faucet knob (Water mixer/temp controller) back to a warm setting and within 2 minutes the faucet knob returned to the coldest setting. I didn't take it too serious at the time because I know that anything mechanical can act strange due to something we don't see, for example; hot water can make the copper expand among other metals or the faucet device could be failing but I have to say that this has never happened to me, my Daughters, my Nephew or my Brother since that one event. If some part was faulty, wouldn't this happen every time someone took a shower? I would say yes. Strange.
The next unexplained event has happened many times but I didn't know that it has happened recently until talking with my Father. It was this past Sunday and we were riding together to go pick up a car part and we started talking about what happened to my Brother. Then he told me about how my Mother was calling his name as if there was a phone call for him in the house and when he responded to her, he heard nothing in return. My Father has a large garage where he works on his bike and it's in earshot to the house, maybe 50 yards away. Back when the activity was at it's peak, this type of audible phenomena would happen a lot so my Dad didn't make a big deal out of it. I don't think he cares about it anymore or he would have told me when it happened. I asked him on what day it happened and he said Tuesday, coincidentally the same day my Brother was frozen and scalded in the shower.
When I got back home today, I spoke with my Mother and after she listened to me complain about work she asked, "Did you turn the coffee pot on this morning when you left for work"? I said, "No, why"? She said that when she woke up around 7:45am and came into the kitchen she smelled something burning and it was the coffee pot. This coffee pot is not set to any type of timer or alarm nor is it pre-made for the next morning. I saw the coffee pot, the bottom was blackened, there was no water in the pot and you could see the black stains everywhere on the coffee burner. There are 2 coffee pots on the counter and the one that started by itself isn't the coffee pot my parents normally use, so I think it's a little weird.
So, I just want to add that there is a 'different' dynamic in the house than usual. It is calm compared to how the environment felt at the peak of the activity but I think senses are hightened due to recent events. The negativity level is no where near what it used to be, there are less fueds between family living so close together but these unexplained events are undeniable. I will keep updating with each new event, however small it may be.

Bathroom EVP Session

Whenever I spend time in the bathroom, I usually just sit there and space out. On many occasions I hear something completely different to all the other sounds coming from above, anyone who has lived under neath someone knows what I'm talking about. I can hear full conversations, chairs being moved and genuine footsteps. Well I was sitting on the throne this morning and I heard the "Noise". I wanted to get it on tape so I finished #2 and ran to get my Brother's new digi-recorder. When I came back, I immediately noticed that the sound had stopped. Before I left, I was counting 3 to 4 displays of sound around every 10-20 seconds. So I turned the device on and just started talking in generalalities, trying to get any type of reaction. About 2 to 3 minutes into the session, I was asking if it was going to keep making the same sound and while I was talking I heard it. It was quiet at first but then got much louder as it progressed. I asked the noise maker if it would respond to me and immediately after speaking, it made the sound and I said, "Thank you". Maybe 20 seconds later, I asked, "Can you do it louder"? Again, immediately following what I had asked, it responded with a much louder response. All I could say was... wow, that's crazy. If I had to describe the sound being made, imagine a large 2x12 beam and then imagine taking your hand (The space in between your thumb & pointer finger) and rubbing the angle of the wood beam with the side palm of your hand until it made a friction sound, giving it a type of vibration also. Sometimes it sounds like a copper pipe is being fooled with and I know it's not running water, the house settling or rodents. It is a very deliberate type of noise, not a tapping sound, not a bang, not a creaking sound, it literally sounds as if someone is inside the ceiling, in a calm manner, just randomly rubbing on the wooden beam.
I've been in the heating, air conditioning & plumbing trades for over 20 years and I know when I hear those types of sounds and furthermore I wouldn't even entertain the idea if I could explain it away as something mechanical. To top it off, not only did I get evidence of the sounds being made, I had a real interaction, a truly intelligent response to my questions. I am going to try and upload a link of the recording to my blog, so if you'd like to hear the session, maybe it could take you to soundcloud or youtube. Stay posted.
I just wanted to add that we had the exact same type of phenomena occur prior to the hell that was unleashed back when I first started this blog. I can only hope this is just a benign spirit that is bored.
